Dominican Rep. Santiago League round 5 (Second Stage) best performance: Rigoberto Mendoza (by Interperformances)- March 13, 2020
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, seven rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Plaza (#4, 1-4) 117-110. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. GUG maintains the 2nd position in Dominican Rep. Santiago League. They are still close to the very top. GUG would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Mendoza had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He just recently signed at GUG, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Nunez had a very good evening with 34 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as CDP lost that game 103-117 to slightly higher-ranked CPN (#1, 4-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. CDP still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory CDP managed to get this Second Stage. Nunez is one of the most experienced players at CDP and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.2ppg (#8). He also registered 7.5 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Ramon Galloway (190-SG-91) of league's top team CPN. Galloway got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds and five assists. He was a key player of CPN, leading his team to a 117-103 easy win against #3 ranked CDP. CPN confirms their top position in the standings. Galloway has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 29.3ppg (best scorer) and assists with 5.7apg (best passer). He also has FGP: 58.8% and 3PT: 47.2%.
